Captain Anthony's
Fishing & Scuba Charters
(713) 817-8008
After 7 years of running fishing charters on
the 32 foot sports fisher, "Bills Played", it became
apparent that the biggest difficulty was not finding the
fish, but finding the weather. More often than not, most of the
bad weather cancellations were not due to storms, but because
sea conditions were 1 - 2 feet beyond that which was comfortable for a single hull vessel in the 35 foot class.
On several occasions, while making my way back to the dock (due to rough seas ),
I noticed the only boats continuing out were the catamarans.
WELL IF YOU CAN'T BEAT EM, JOIN EM ! "Bills Played" has been replaced with "Phat Cat"
a state-of-the-art 27 foot World Class Catamaran. So 2005 should be a great year for fishing
with Captain Anthony's - No more of the typical slow boat rides at 17 knots that seem to go
on forever and ever. This boat moves with a top speed of around 50 MPH and the ability to cruise
at around 35mph. That's sweet! Less travel time. More fishing time. Less chance of cancellations
(the secret's in the double hull). This new World Cat will take up to 6 average-size passengers
(it's actually rated for ten people but Coast guard regs limit charter vessels to 6 ). To take maximum
advantage of the fast catamaran, ride weight is very important. If your party consists of, shall we say,
"big guys", it may be prudent to adjust the number on board. It's just the laws of physics kicking in-
there is only so much you can put in a boat. This year, with the extra speed and range available, we
plan to run more deep-water trips (4-5 passengers on deep-water). Book your trip today!
THE BASIC CHANGES FOR THIS YEAR:
1) Much faster ride to the fish & more fishing time.
2) Smooth ride - World Cat's unique hull construction makes for a smooth boat ride in weather
conditions when conventional Sports fishing boats are stuck at the dock .
3) Shallow draft, giving you the opportunity to venture into the bay system on those days when
it is just not possible to get offshore.
