Charter Fishing Tips

There are many charter fishing tips to remember before even putting your line in the water. If you have never fished before, or have very little experience, the following advice can make your fishing trip much more enjoyable.

Rain or shine

Make sure to always check to see if your fishing trip can proceed, even if the weather does not want to cooperate. Also, decide whether or not you are willing to fish in the rain. Most charters will charge a cancellation fee if you have already made a previous reservation. Even if the weather is beautiful, bring a change of clothes in case you get wet or dirty cleaning your prize-winning fish. The charter fishing company should always provide life jackets and safety equipment.

All inclusive trip

Some companies offer food and drinks aboard, but not all do. If refreshments are not supplied, a snack or sandwich and water are good things to have on hand. Alcohol is dangerous and sometimes not permitted on board, so check with the captain before purchasing any alcoholic drinks. Smoking is possibly allowed, but it is a good idea to ask before lighting up. Even on cloudy days, you can get a sunburn, so bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen to protect yourself. The last and most important item on the list is bait. Make sure bait is included, or pick some up before launching the boat.

No matter where you are fishing, it is a good idea to know the tips and tricks mentioned above.
